The Bulletin | Q1 2025
PUBLIC ENTITY SPECIALTY GROUP
"What have you done for me lately?" That’s a question many of us are asked by the stakeholders we engage with daily. And in the risk management and insurance industry, we face this same question. Whether it’s from the clients we’re fortunate to serve, the insurance partners we work with, or the stakeholders in the firms we represent, this is the challenge we all navigate.
But why is this question especially relevant for you, as representatives of Public Entities across the Midwest? Because it’s a question we should be asked. If you’re already a client of ours, we embrace the inquiry—though we aim to answer it proactively through our service model (more on that soon). If you’re a prospective client considering a partnership with us, we invite you to reframe the question as: “What have you done for your clients lately?” Here's a starting point to that answer...
Actual Evidence
1. Transitioned clients from claims-made insurance policies to occurrence based policies with prior acts coverage.
2. Significantly reduced wind and hail deductible max expenditures for our Tier 1 clients, including individual clients that had >$1,000,000 of this exposure and many that achieved a reduction of that total by hundreds of thousands of dollars through creative risk financing strategies."
3. Identified non-covered assets totaling over $15,000,000 for a prospective client and ensured they were properly secured with a reputable firm.
4. Secured coverage for a school district facing non-renewal, increasing limits and saving on premiums compared to year-over-year costs.
5. Delivered solutions beyond insurance placement, enhancing safety through our Risk Solutions Team, managing certificates with the CSG Team, and strengthening cyber posture via our Cyber Solutions Team. We've recently expanded to include workforce related initiatives through our Workforce
Solutions Team.
6. Facilitated the transition for clients to new insurance carriers when terms, conditions, and pricing offered a better value.

Client Process
Over the past year, we’ve placed a strong focus on refining our client process. Our goal has been to ensure that all Public Entity clients have equal access to vital information and feel empowered to leverage it to minimize the risks they face as organizations. To support this, every client our team serves now receives four Core-Services meetings annually, scheduled strategically to align with their budgeting season and renewal dates. These meetings are pre-scheduled to ensure that key information is shared and that we work together to achieve the desired outcomes.

If you’re interested in learning more about any of the initiatives above, or what working together could look like, I’d encourage you to review below for next steps. Our team is growing and excited to welcome more value-aligned Public Entities as clients of our organization.
An Option to Consider
First MainStreet Insurance's Public Entity Specialty Group team is looking to grow the base of the clients we serve throughout Iowa. We have a process that prompts conversation around what the current state is of your organization’s risk management and insurance setup, as well as ideas on how to improve that situation moving forward.

If you’re open to learning more, below are recommended next steps:
- Schedule an intro meeting with our team. This will allow us to learn more about your organization, share about our process, and mutually conclude if we might be a good fit to work together. To schedule this intro meeting, simply click here: FMSI Public Entity Scheduler.
2. Complete our abbreviated discovery assessment, which is a survey that provides us feedback on areas you are already supported well or that our team could help provide value. The survey takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete, and is linked here: FMSI Public Entity Pathfinder Assessment.
